Five Kimonos We Love for Spring

Five Kimonos We Love for Spring

Hi Belle babes!

We have been having some weather in the Northeast, to put it mildly. The other day, I got caught in a 40mph wind gust; all of a sudden, it was as if the air became solid and impossible to walk through. It was a very strange feeling, like the laws of physics and the universe that I trusted all of my life had been suddenly flipped upside down.

It passed, and then I was able to walk again. This is all a long-winded way of saying that I am READY for Spring! How about you?

In the spirit of warmer weather, I have a roundup of one of the biggest trends this year: kimonos! While they have been gaining traction since last year, more options abound this Spring. I love kimonos because they are so versatile, but also so luxurious. They're like a robe that you can get away with wearing in public! They can be thrown over a basic tee and jeans to dress up your entire look. They can be wrapped and belted into a dress. Or, they can be worn to the beach or pool as a glamorous cover-up.

Without further ado, here are my five favorite kimono trends for Spring:

1. The Baroque Opulence embroidered kimono:

 floral long black dramatic kimono

This plush kimono from Zara is embroidered with golden flowers and lined in bright red. This is a transitional Winter to Spring piece and would look best for a night on the town, layered over black pants and boots.

2. The traditional Japanese-inspired kimono:

Lingerie brand-of-the-moment Fleur du Mal carries their take on a traditional Japanese kimono in sumptuous silk. This is styled over undergarments for the boudoir, but could just as easily be worn over a pair of jeans.

3. The All-Lace kimono:

The lace all-over kimono is going to make you look floaty and romantic, like a soft aura of light follows you. This lace kimono from Band of Gypsies features dramatic bell sleeves and is perfect to wear to an outdoor music festival.

 4. The Belted Crop jacket kimono:

This kimono jacket from Warm is less beachy, and more of a formal wear-to-work over your fitted pencil skirt style. It features a folkloric print and multicolored embroidery.

5. The Boho Fringe printed kimono:

LILY red printed plus size kimono

My personal favorite piece in our shop for this season. Our Lily kimono is made from lightweight soft cotton and features a beautiful border print. A perfect vacation piece, it works just as well with a pair of jeans or shorts and a lace top as it does for a day on the sand.

It is also an inclusive piece, so my ladies size 0-12 can wear the size XL as a wrap or beach cover-up.

Tell me, what do you think of these looks? I hope you have gained some styling inspiration and a new-found appreciation of kimonos! You can shop our selection of kimonos and cardigans here.
